CARES spawn H. thereuterion

Just wanted to share my excitement.
I just caught my young Haplochromis sp. ‘thereuterion’ spawning for the first time. These are endangered CARES fish from Lake Victoria and are roughly the equivalent of Lake Tang's Cyprichromis.

Very cool! I was thinking of getting a group from Dave's in the next group buy! Are they as dark as most of the pictures on the net? Based on the pictures I've seen, they look black and gray with red on the tail and fins.

Thanks. They are a group of 9 (2M/7F) in my 75 Tang tank that they share with my prolific cyps and paracyps groups, some calvus and multis and 3 oddballs. I'm probably overstocked, but everyone seems happy.

Yes, the males are a really deep bluish-grayish-black with the blue and bright red fins. The females are a silvery gray with black stripes.
We'll see what happens...

Do they stay at or near the top of the tank like you cyps?

They behave pretty much like the cyps. They seem to hang out mostly in the middle 1/3rd of the water but go in and out of the rock structures also.
