Do you guys think we have enough DSLR users now for a CCAPC?

I take it that you mean a Capital Cichlid Association Aquatic Photography Club? EXCELLENT! It could be our CCA Photography Workshop and we could meet at various homes to photograph and discuss the outcome in the Photography Workshop forum under the members section. Non-members could attend for a nominal fee for the monumental amount of good information gained at these workshops. Perhaps a presentation at one of the meetings!

It would take Pat's blessing, but I second a motion to have you made Chair of this endeavor! OH YEAH!!!!

Francine

Woaaaa Francine. I figured you'd nominate me for something like that. :confused0083:

Actually I left the "Aquatic" off the name. But not bad either way.

Workshops for sure, and maybe put together an official calender to be sold to raise funds also. We can even get our own seperate t-shirts.

Anybody else interested? Sign up here and we can petition the prez. :party0018:

Sign me up! I feel it would benefit many people and help the club to boot! Besides, Maddog has the skills for the folks with the P/S's:character0272:

Everyone would benefit!

And when the CCAAPC gets well known. And all those fishkeepers that want to join to learn how to take better photos of their fish (that already don't belong to the CCA) they would have to join the CCA to quailfy for CCAAP membership. More dues money for the CCA and get us over that 100 hump Pat is looking for. Ha, ha. Another way to increase membership. :happy0100:

lol.... I like the idea of a calender. Everyone needs a calender in the fish room. At least I know I do. One that you can actually make notes on. etc.

Absolutely! Great idea. And YES on a calendar. I just bought a HORSE calendar for the fishroom because neither of us can find our TFH fish calendar! And I know that if I used a calendar with little tiny baby kitties on it that you-know-who would wig out..........

What the heck are you guys trying to do...lol

A sub-club?

A CCA Photography Club within the CCA regular club?

I only have one thing to say about that stuff....

..

..

I like it.

Need to hear from you other photo enthusiasts...

Tash?
Spine?
Maddog10?
JustRon?
Theresa M?
TwoFishGuyz?

....I know I am missing at least five other folks that I can't think of their screen name. Who are you?

Yeah, since we are going to be a "subgroup" to the "association". Can't we still be like a club within? You know, like Oprah's Book Club.

Official title could be: <span style="color:#FF0000">"Capital Cichlid Association's Photography Club" </span>

Using the term "study group" sounds too temporary to me.

My girlfriend would be interested in joining you guys in that endeavor so I guess I will have to upgrade when I pay my dues at the next meeting so that she can play too.

Rob

Why learn how to take photos when you can just date the photographer? :smashfreakB: :D

How about C-CAP Capitol Cichlid Assocation Photography[/b]

I much prefer this idea. It avoids the confusion of a club within a club.

I might be interested a little bit. I'm not real big on photography, but Dad was really into the film cameras. Dad wanted me to get a DSLR, but my new camera suits MY needs much better. And I think I can add lenses and an external flash. Mine just cost $300 total as opposed to the Canon Rebel's $1000+ for the complete setup. So eventually, we will probably get a DSLR. In the mean time, my camera will let me hum the tune.

Just my two cents!
Amanda.

I agree, and I don't even have a camera YET. (maybe CCA-P would be even simpler.)
You could bring great pics for display at the CCA meetings. Kind of a 'show and tell' picture table.... different than 'show and sell' auction table.

On the topic of pics... do the AquaFest 2007 pics of winning fish get sent to ACA or anywhere for competition?

Later,
Marge

Just to let some of you know, we are entertaining this idea very seriously. If it materializes, it could provide a BIG contribution to the entire CCA membership. And possibly receive some national recognition.

Stay tuned... :happy0144:

I've never gotten into fish photography because my wife (probably rightly) thinks I'll break her camera... But honey, I didn't mean to drop it into the fish tank.

It would also require me to clean tank glass, which isn't my favorite fishroom chore :)
