Blue Fish

I've been looking for sometime now for something to catch my eye, but I haven't found anything. What I am getting at is does anybody know any blue fish I'm trying to add color to my community tank and was wondering if any one knew some colorful non-aggressive fish I could add preferably blue but anything vibrant that strikes out is what I'm looking for. Any ideas please let me know.

If your tank is a community tank (and not a cichlid community tank) you could go for a dwarf gourami. I think they are relatively peaceful and bright blue with orange trim on their fins.

I really don't have any cichlids any more only a few kribs. Mostly it's tetras, rasboras, and I do have a few rainbows one being turquoise, I lost the others to a evil little barb.

I have been sell quite a few spotted blue platys if you want something really peaceful.

Blue gouramis have a lot of blue and are really deep blue in breeding colors and you can almost keep them there if you keep the temperature around 80 F.

I'd also suggest German BLUE rams. They do appear blue in a planted tank. Unfortunately I do not have any big enough to sell right now.

With what you have i would go with the gourami or some more turquoise rainbow if blue is what you want in your community tank.
Or you could just setup a cichlid tank beside that one and add some really nice electric blue haps...go blue is to go Cichlids ...yeah cichlids!!!
Sorry I had to go there

The platys are interesting and I have looked at German Blue Rams. I haven't been able to find anyone that has them in stock though. I have been told gourami's can be nippy which is my worry with them. I have also been told odessa barbs are colorful but it doesn't seem like anyone around here sells the. Anyway Frank if you get any rams that are bigger please let me know I would be very interested on get at least a pair of those.

Praecox rainbows have an iridescent blue, as do congo tetras. Depending on the size of your fish, you could add an EBJD.

Bettas

If you find someone to sell you a bunch of juveniles from the same brood you can even stock multiple male adults contrary to popular belief.

Saw a planted tank full of adult bettas once and have to say it was absolutely stunning. They really pretty much keep to their own kind in my experience - their rep comes from unrelated males thrashing each other (and females) rather than from aggression toward other species, almost of all of whom are much much faster/nimble anyway. Since your sense of community is "global" so to speak, why not? Certainly hardier than just about anything else and especially hybrid rams.

For a REALLY blue fish, not a "hey, that's kind of blue" fish, try the blue botia. :)

Thanks a lot guys! I got a lot of options to look at and consider and I already know a few place that hold some of these fish. I guess I better go looking around to see what stores have what once these roads clear from the ice.

Try HOT (House of Tropicals in Glen Burnie) for a good selection of fish:)
