Hi, not sure if you've heard from anyone yet about the 3M... I'm not familiar with "Black Beauty", do you have a link or possibly manufacturer or brand name and we can maybe help you more?

Also what are your goals for the tank? Would you like to keep plants? Are you looking for a sandy substrate? As much info as you can give us would be great... we'll be able to give you a better answer!

3m is black beauty :) Same stuff. Different companies use different names... then there are different grades etc. They just make it all confusing !!

Let me see what I can do Caleb.... I have 100 lbs... but 50 is spoken for.

Black Beauty is NOT the same thing (or even in the same ballpark) as Colorquartz.

One is an intentionally sharp edged, metal oxide filled product used for sandlbasting.

The other is a pure quartz, dyed and fired for color, smooth edged and used for finish projects like pool and spa walls and floors.

You couldn't sandblast with Colorquartz, and you sure wouldn't finish someone's custom pool with Black Beauty.

Google them and read the differences. Get the MSDS sheets to learn what is in them, and read the applications and think about what it means for the particles and sharpness and what have you.

Wasn't there a black beauty in MASH. You don't put those in your tanks?

Sarah,

Hi, I am a bit confused, do you access to the 3M Colorquartz?

If so, I would love some!

Thanks,

Ben
