Bettas

Has anyone had any success keeping these guys in a community tank? I love them but hate the thought of keeping alone. I have to fight for every tank I bring into house and was wondering if it would be alright to throw one in my 90 with angels, tetras , and rams

I have a male betta in with angelfish and somehow the betta is alpha over two fairly large angels. I don't know how it would go with a full community - it seems the more fish the less aggressive the betta becomes

I have two in a 55 with my angels but its very rare that they stay calm but these are siblings things might change when they get sexually mature.
Anything is possible I guess

Betas are good with fish without too much flashy fins or bright colors. I wouldn't put Bettas with angels, but Cory cats, a few kinds of tetras, and a few others should be okay.

I have 6 angels in my 90 , two pairs and two loners, so I guess they are not practical in that tank.... Always wanted to "save" one from those little jars they sell them in

I've kept fry together and they have grown up together no problem but as soon as they are separated they cannot be returned together its weird someone with more Betta experience plz chime in...why does that happen? Can Betta be good community fish if you left fry to grow up with the community? ( there might be some aggression but not as bad if they are seperated?)

I have a male in right now with a quad of Nannacara aureocephalus (20 gallon) and another male in with a quintet of Chili rasboras and some Caridina babaluti green shrimp (odds are I spelled that wrong).

Over the years I've had them share tanks with a variety of smaller, not-too-nippy, schooling fish and, occasionally, dwarf cichlids. White clouds and pencilfish make good companions for them.

I've spoken with people that have kept bettas in with angelfish before. He swore it worked for him. You can always try it and find out. I'd be more concerned with the angels nipping the fins (as mentioned above) but that depends entirely on the personalities of the angels and beta.

If you do go with a beta in a 90 I think you should provide some spot near the surface of the water the beta can rest on. Having to swim 16" to get some air is a lot different than 24" especially if you're doing it all the time.
