i have a penguin 200 that for whatver reason keeps shutting off. i think i am going to swith this ou for an aquaclear. what is the be way to do this without looing he good biofilter in the penguin

Would it be possible to run both filters at the same time for a while. Also transferring some media or even the "gunk" from the Penguin should help get the bio filter in the AC started.

+1 on running both filters on the tank for a week or two as the best way to start the BB growth in the new filter. Another option would be to take an AC off of an existing tank and move it the tank with the biowheel and put the new filter on the 1st tank. This assumes that you have additional filtration on the 1st tank as well.
