Hi guys
These guys spawn so much that I might aswell enter them
I keep the pair by themselves in a 29.
After they spawn I always divide them or seperate one into a different tank because the male gets extremely aggressive with his smaller female.
I always leave this tank covered in algae so the fry can graze throughout the day
They are currently guarding their 3rd spawn. I got this pair from Jeff Rapps

They are pretty aggressive but a great fish to keep if you can dedicate a 29 or even a 20 high to.
I keep mine in a ph of 7.2, 78 degrees, and very low nitrates, no nitrites, and no amonia.

Good job Dan!

Zack - my pair isn't docile at all, exhibiting behavior like most from the convict complex. They spawn readily, are fierce defending their spawn, and males are rough on females. I now keep mine in a permanently divided 20H and let them spawn through the divider.

I agree, both the male and female aggressively guard their fry. Whenever I put my hand in the tank to feed the fry, put my hand up to the tank, or even walk by the male (and the female when she is in the tank with him) flips out and tries to bite me (when my hand is in the tank he succeeds most of the time)

Well done, Dan!

Matt

Thanks!

My pair of Rio Tempisque Cons emerged from a group of 4 of them and - knock on wood - has done a great job of working together to raise fry.

They're pretty black and orange fish - what's not to like :)

Thanks Matt! They are some of my favorite fish

Looks like a spawning mop but I'm not sure.

Nice ! What is that green thing in the tank?

Thanks, and yes, Zack is correct
I put them in my livebearer tanks because many of the species I keep like to eat their fry and the spawning mops are a great place for the fry to go and hide.

Nice. Great job.

Nice! Great looking fish!
Thanks!

The fry have significantly slowed down in growth, looks like it might be time to separate them

Also, I realize this is in the wrong "BAP" forum, can a mod please move it?
Thanks
