Herbert Axelrod has taken refuge in Cuba as the IRS has charged him with a number of crimes. Apparently he saw this coming. In the past year or two he has sold his New Jersey home and a huge collection of antique stringed instruments for a total gain of close to $25 million. He has a home (and bank accounts) in Switzerland and is currently staying at a posh hotel in Havana, where his ship is anchored.
Part of the IRS charges are that he paid bonuses diretly to Swiss bank accounts and told the recipients that they shouldn't disclose them on their income statements and tax forms.
