Just picked up a 60" acrylic 125 for less than what Caleb (a.k.a. "Warbucks") spent at the auction yesterday - very good shape (the tank that is) but has one six inch scratch and could do with a good buffing to make it more or less pristine. Would really appreciate a solid link to a proven DIY protocol or moreover, some polishing compound or whatever is required from someone who's "been there-done that" in exchange for my usual spectacular reciprocity in aquatic goods and services. Still not sure where to put the tank, don't have a stand for it, could be I'll end up passing it on to someone in CCA.
Also have a 48" Odyssea fixture with 2 20,000 MH lights and 2 96W compact fluorescents that I've been running for three years. I've only ever used the fluorescents (have new bulbs for it) and was told when I bought it that the MHs needed a new ballast. Since I didn't need the halides I never looked into fixing it. Anyway, as I really don't need a fixture of this magnitude would be willing to trade it for a freshwater T5 set-up and/or any other consideration that may be appropriate to someone that's jonesing for major lumens. Fixture is complete, has nice lines, very good shape and can be hung (cables attached) or mounted although the maximum spread between the legs seems to be about 44" lengthwise. I assume this it because it was designed for use on a much bigger tank than the 55 where it presently resides and especially since the ports for the compact bulbs are angled to direct light somewhat forward and back as well as straight down.
