Another D. mac spawn.

I somehow missed that the female was guarding eggs. I pulled a leaf with a bunch of empty egg shells and 5 egg-shaped wigglers out of the tank this morning and put it in the marina breeder box. The last water change I did on this tank included 4-5 gallons of water I got by melting snow... Fingers crossed that even a couple of these guys make it.

They're in the box with the oak leaf they were situated on, some floating plants, and some alder cones to (hopefully) ward off fungus.

I hope they make it, ESPECIALLY after all you've been through with this pair! Jeesh, sounds like they are a hand-full!

The bad news - I can't find any wigglers this AM.

The good news - My breeder box was already set up and ready to be a safe haven for the Aspidoras spawn I found on the filter output this morning (they had to get at least partially out of the water to place it there) after I noticed the puffers in that tank gobbling up some additional eggs that were laid on the power head. Maybe I'll finally get some baby Aspidoras.

The bad news - the weather reports are true. These guys almost exclusively spawn for me when bad weather is coming in.

Once I'm done using it as a quarantine, I'm moving this pair to the 20 long, filling it with leaf litter, adding some really small schooling fish that would have a hard time eating fry, and buying RO water or distilled water from Whole Foods to fill it with.

If that doesn't work... If that doesn't work, I'm going to have to give up on getting any viable fry out of these guys.
