Angels and ?

I will be stocking a 90 or larger(to 120 maybe) with angels and ?. I am after both a mix of color AND shape. Tetras and Rams and Corys and Plecos are my thoughts thus far. I like the hardiness of black tetras.Want to hear of others fave's. Serpaes and neons and Rummy-nose and Rasboros also come to mind. I am looking to establish nice schools of each that I choose, so given the tank size, if I go with three selections, how many of each would be feasible? Weigh in folks.

I would think that you could do schools of 10-12 of three different tetra groups in a tank that size with adequate filtration. I personally would stay away from the neons if you are going to keep angels with them. Eventually they will become tasty snacks.

If I were to get three schools to keep in a tank with angels, I would go with lemons, serpae, and emperor tetras.

Although I keep both serpae and lemons and enjoy both, I am partial to larger bodied tetras. I really like congos and the columbian red fin, blue bodied tetra.

i really like the clown plecos though they are shy, at least for some time, long time. how about something slightly different from an armored catfish, i had gotten some aspidoras a while back and they are just as cute =) a large group of rummy nose are impresive once settled down! i like my silver tips very much also. and the rams sound like a good conbination, blue or bolivian?

Decisions, decisions...

+1 on Columbian tetras - emperors are pretty but always act a bit strange and don't tend to school like other tetras. Diamonds are nice, well-behaved, and too large to be snacks. Plecos can get snarky when they get large and often forget we like them to clean the glass which many stop doing with age though yellow Ancistrus stay mellow and continue to graze algae apparently forever. So many interesting and beautiful Corydoras - couple schools of 8-10+ could be very cool - if you go that route be sure to use a nice small polished (not jagged) substrate as its easy on their 'whiskers'. You might look into into Biotodomas if you're looking for something striking to keep with angels as an alternative to discus. Larger and more striking than Bolivian Rams - very mellow towards other species. Have fun.

Blue or Bolivian you ask? Since where I live waaaay out here on 'the shore' no TFSs exist, I'll have to travel and go with whats available. Last time I was at House of Tropicals, all they had were baloon-bellies. NOT!!!

You should put together an expansive wish list and see what our members have that's available - could very well be it would make it worth a trip to the next meeting in two weeks and you wouldn't have to settle for "what's available' which largely renders this whole discussion/conjecture moot. The meeting is only an extra 35-45 minutes tops from Glen Burnie and with the money you'd likely save on the tetras alone you'd also pay for your gas.

Thanks folks for the numerous ideas. And yes I will be attending a meeting in the near future to meet some of you and put some feelers out there. As I am still a month or more away from actually setting things up, I'm not yet ready to go and make the buys. Wish I could. Just looking to broaden the idea pool at the present time. Many thanks
