This started when an 87 year young fellow thought he would go buy a new car today. He was about to test drive a 2009 Lincoln Town Car but he didnt make it out of the parking lot. For whatever reason he put the gas pedal to the floor in our parking lot and drove about 75 yards full throttle straight into 3 parked cars flipping one over on its side. The salesman and the driver were alright but the old man's wife was in the back seat not buckled in and suffered a broken leg and lacerations to her forehead. Its a good thing noone was walking through the parking lot or it could have been real bad.

What do you guys do about that? Is it covered by the dealership's insurance since it was on the property, or will they go after the "young man." Hopefully his wife is ok, bones are brittle at that age. And they say us young kids are the problem. We wait to put the pedal to the floor until AFTER we leave the parking lot.

I am starting to believe in Logan's Run, everyone (except me) gets put down at a certain age.

Wow, a blast from the past...Logans Run.
As a former toll collector for over 20 years I can tell you that I have seen it all with old people driving. Driving on the wrong side of the road on the NJ Turnpike. Driving into a toll lane, on the wrong side of the highway. Not knowing how to put down their window in order to pay. Putting the car into reverse as they left the toll booth...and on and on.

I'd rather deal with fish-people.:smashfreakB:

I think the old man's insurance is going to have to pay. The worst part was the 3 cars he hit were customer's cars that were in for service!!!:eek::eek:

Thats rough. You imagine getting a phone call saying you can't pick up your car that was in for an oil change because its currently on its roof. I'd be livid! I hope you guys have a good body shop crew and the insurance fight isn't too rough. I guess those 3 customers can look forward to a new paint job. When is the next demolition derby supposed to take place? Most people will pay to see that kind of action.

I got rear ended at a stop sign in a customer car once. I went to the hospital but my boss was the one having a bad day. I'd hate to be the service manager at your shop!

Yikes! Thats a bad one. Makes for a good break to go out and watch stuff like this. Glad the youngin is ok and hope his wifes alright. We havent had anything tooo serious in a couple months.

Although we have "events" happen like weekly. When we have a small section of our lot for damaged demo/loaner cars you know its bad....

Last week someone totaled an 06 camry by hitting god knows what with the right front tire and ripping out the entire subframe. Ill see if its still in our lot ill snap pics. And this week someone got rear ended in a loaner car of ours.
