Acrylic Tank Repair

I am new to the area and just received my household goods. They did not crate my custom 125 gallon acrylic tank as they should have. It is scratched up pretty bad and I watched them yank on the base and possibly break the footing. I am looking for some one who can repair the tank and ensure that the footing is stable or reapir that also. The tank and plumbing are built into the base. This will be an insurance claim so you can tell me the price. If it can not be reapired I will need some one to build me a new tank.

Can anybody point me in the right direction for this?

Welcome to the forum.

I've never heard of anyone taking a large tank somewhere to have scratches removed. From what I hear, it's not that difficult to do yourself, so long as the tank is dry. They sell kits for buffing acrylic. How bad are they?

What fish do you keep?

OK thanks, that is what I thought. I continually find new ones on the outside; I do not think any are considerably deep although there are plenty of them. I have also noticed a bunch on the inside from them throwing stuff inside during transportation. I believe that the ones on the inside will not be visible when full of water.
I have my 125 gallon that I will be putting a breeding group of tropheus moorii lufubu into and I am not sure if I am going to go with red tail haplochromis or zebra pleco in my 90.

Lufubu. Very nice. :)

Do you already have them or are you looking to get them?

Try Stith Aquatics, at the very least they should be able to give you a quote. They are located in Leesburg and do acrylic work.

I can't PM you, but their website has customerservice@stithaquatics.com for the contact email address.

I dont have the fish yet, I am getting the lufubu from pieces in New York and I am having a problem finding any zebra plecos at a decent price, this may drive me to the red tails. I really appreciate the help and I will get photos up as things progress with the tanks.

What are red tails btw? Some sort of Vic? Or are you talking red tail catfish?

I know, I have had the haps in the past and really enjoy them, but I thought it would be fun to do something new like the zebra pleco and expand my knowledge a bit.

Vics are great, but if you're into plecos, there are a ton of other very cool ones out there that don't cost a small fortune and (with some work) you can breed. So don't get discouraged.

A smaller tank would be preferable for this as most of the uncommon ones will need large soft water changes to get them to spawn. For a group of adult 4" plecos, you can get away with a 20-40 gallon tank. No need for a 90.

90 would be perfect for the Vics though. :)

You get pretty good variety with a 3rd tank. Fairfax County water should be pretty much perfect for Victorian cichlids. The waste RO water should work well for the tropheus, and the ratios would be about right with a 20 or 30 soft water and a 90 hard-water.
