A couple FTS

I have picked up a bunch of new fish for my standard 180g recently, figured I would show some FTSs.

disclaimer: I like overstocked tanks, please don't yell at me for that. My water parameters stay perfect, I dedicate allot of time to my 1 big tank.

As far as aggression goes, I don't see many issues at all. Allot of the Viejas are new, but were all in a community before together, i'm not to worried.

The big Jardini is probably the most peaceful fish in the tank believe it or not. I have had him for a while now and he has never even looked twice at his smaller tank mates.

Right now 2x 50% water changes keep my nitrates <20, I assume I'm going have to add another one per week with the recent additions, Ill be watching my parameters and adjusting as needed.

Filtration is 3 Fx5's.

On a side note, I'm still pretty new to cichlids, I have really enjoyed my centrals so far. Feeding is pretty entertaining with this tank, everyone attacks pieces of romaine lettuce like a piranha shoal.

Pictures are pretty bad, but all I have is my camera phone.

More stuff is probably more stuff to fight over and for the jardini to run into (at least in that tank)...

+1, I dont want to create territories, 1 centerpiece of wood is good enough for the cats and bichirs.

The jardini is only about 20" so he still has plenty of room.

Lots of big boys in that tank. What's the stock list?

Alrighty, stocklist.

Argentea 7"
Syn pair 7" and 9"
Regani pair 6"
Bifas x4 5"
Super red severum pair 4"
Golden severum pair 5"
Rokteil severum pair 6"
Butti tilapia 5"
Jardini 20"
Giraffe nosed cat 20"
Megaladoris Irwini cat 5"
Koloton poly 17"
2x Endlicheri Tikinso 15"
Ansorgii poly 17"
2x redhook silver dollars 5"

Obviously all these wont fit in here forever...

Ill probably be getting rid of a handful here soon.

Watch out for that buttikoferi. They are pure evil, or at least that's what just about everything I've ever read about them says.

Let me know if you decide to move the severums. I may be interested.

dayum...nice "little" list you got there. Most of those CA would make good center pieces in they're own tanks. I know apartment living puts a substantial limit on those of us that keep aquariums. Just moved out of one.

On the filtration.. you did right by running 3 FX5s with that stock but if it were me i'd trade one of them for an Eheim 2260 or 2262 just for more bio media capacity.

That's what I have read, hoping that he will be ok being community raised since its so small.

Meh, I had a 2260 and didn't really like it. I traded it for an fx5. I don't really need more bio, even with all those fish I still run 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites. So more bio isn't really nessassary, the extra mechanical is great though. My tank is always crystal clear.

Dang! Looking good! In my experience heavy stocking works with large centrals. Looks like everything is doing well. Everybody eating in the newly acquired stock list?
BTW I just asked you to post pics in my other thread. Hahaha you beat me to it.

Yeah, i think the heavy stocking will prevent any aggression issues.

Eating well? psh. They are all pigs man. i threw in some food a couple hours after putting them in the tank and they all ate immidiately.

Like I said above, who needs piranhas for a feeding frenzy? These guys eat romaine lettuce like a shoal of piranhas! They also took prawns and tilapia the first day.

Just checking I know moving stuff can be hectic for fish but I'm sure it helps to have others feeding at the same time. Glad they are all doing well. You should put up a video of the frenzy so we can see the lettuce shredding bonanza!

I raised him or her with our african community since i bought it about an inch. Never any aggression issues under my care. Funny how he went from tank boss to the smallest fish in the tank lol.
