Yes, various Ludwigia are commonly used in planted aquariums. Possibly Ludwigia palustris. May flower if grown emersed.

I meant, what are they known for? What conditions do they need, and what do they do to water chemistry. I wonder what the flowers look like.

I don't think they need special conditions becausthe my local pond is pretty bad lol, they don't do anything to the ph or hardness.

Thanks Lucas, yes it's right down the street from my house. I put some oak leaves in my tank to lower ph, does anyone know how long it will take for the water to actually be effected by the leaves?

Im not sure but my advice would be to use malaysian drftwood to lower the ph. I do that and it keeps it at 6.6

I have drift wood in my other tank and your right it does keep it down, mine stays at 6.5 even when I do water changes. I don't have access to drift wood right now.

You've sort of inspired me to go out and check out my local pond.

Have some outdoor containers to stock here once the weather gets a bit warmer.

Thanks! :)
