    best conditions for raising fry

This process is a first for me.. and I want to do it right. So I have isolated my holding "electric blue" johanni. First off know one told me it would take removing all the rocks and chasing her for an hour around my 125g. My back is killing me!!! Anyway I plan to strip her Thursday if she does...

I have 2 20gallon african cichlid tanks, and I didn't use the african cichlid sand or any texas holey rock. Can I bag some crushed coral and raise my ph? And how much should I use? My tap water is 7.5 and I want to get my aquarium ph to 8.0 and suggestions?

    Raising copepods for food

I've got a few cultures of copepods (I'm guessing they're cyclops) going.....one from a purchased culture, one from a clump of java moss that got left in a collection cup with tank water under some light. I think I'm starting to have enough of them to begin feeding to my fry. Anyone else...

Raising pH - Crushed Coral and Other Options

I've recently moved to Albany, NY and the water isn't nearly as hard as it was at college or in Virginia. My water has settled in the mid 7's and I'd like to bump that up a bit without using chemicals (I'm fine with chemistry but I don't like chems). I'm looking into getting some crushed coral...

So my pair of GBR did a really good job on their last spawn. The fries are around 3 weeks old now and have basically doubled/tripled in size. I guess my question is, should I pull the parents out or continue as is, where both parents are in the tank. The mom won't let the dad anywhere near...

Hi! In the Old World forum, a side discussion has been started on the effects of letting parents raise their fry, and how it effects their fry. I would like to start a discussion on this, but relating to all fish that will raise their own young. So, have any of you done any experiments on...
