    HOB suggestion for a 30gl

First post here guys, seems like a very knowledgable group. Have 2 hap / peacock tanks, a 125 & a 90gl which we run canisters on. When we received a shipment of fish the female bicolor 500 came holding so we have 35 fry.. Had them in a 10gl with just a sponge filter but they are growing...

    HOB for new 55 gallon

I am going to be setting up a 55 gallon when it arrives. I still haven't ordered filters yet. I want to go with HOB's for this tank and was wondering for a typically stocked 55gal mbuna tank would I want two AC70's or Two AC110's? Also I was wondering if mixing and matching HOB's might be viable...

    Switching from HOB to Canister

Finally decided to upgrade to a canister filter and am curious as to if anyone's had experience doing so... Would moving the media from my HOB filter to a basket in the canister filter have sufficient BB to not go though a mini cycle? Sent from my iPhone using MonsterAquariaNetwork app

    HOB FILTER MATERIAL vs Catridges

Has anyone use Polyfiber batting material in there HOB filters rather than the cartridges? I've heard that the batting is also an excellent media and is actually a little thicker, more effective, less expensive and lasts significantly longer. If so, do you still actually need the carbon or...

    Hob filter stopped working

So I was doing a water change today and my month old bio wheel filter just stopped working after I added the water. Just randomly stopped. I took it apart and cleaned out the impeller, multiple times and it won't start. I'm pretty pissed right now. Any help would be appreciated

To HOB or not to HOB

Since entering this wonderful obsession we all share I have always leaned towards HOB filters preferring the AC models. I have noticed the larger gallon units many of you have and those available on CL or other markets for used tanks feature "sump unit filtration" set ups. I would love to know...

Aquaclear 70 HOB Filter for Bowtank

I'm using Fluval 405 & an Aquaclear 70 on my recently purchased 72 gallon Bowtank. I keep mostly discus, and was wondering on going "Green" with the HOB Filter. I'm thinking of using bio balls with a basic sponge filter; has any one else had success with the HOB 70...
