Nice shot of one of the Synspilum in with the Giant Gourami: This is sort of like being "bumped" by a battle ship: This is one of the Vieja complex you don't see very often...Vieja Ufermanni.: Male and female: Here's the male chasing some tail...literally: Male and female. You can...

Here's two nice shots of the F0 Red Tiger Motaguense from Rio Blanco. Male and female: And the female. This makes a nice companion shot to the picture of the male that I posted a couple days ago. This from the other day: And one close up of the F0 Managuense from Honduras. This guy...

Some more photos of the Freddies. I got this first shot literally by sticking one hand in the top of the tank and waiting until they came up to nibble (bite!) my finger tips. You can see the difference in size between the largest (4") and the smallest. Some unusual angles: I do believe...

I generally take left over vegetables from dinner down to the fishroom. Last night it was peas. Most of the fish in the various tanks will eat them no problem. A lot of the Parachromis and Amphilophus type fish will experiment and then spit the peas out. The others will readily eat them...

Some recent photos of the male F0 Hondo Managuense. Great looking fish...and I do have fry. I angled the flash a little differently on all the shots in this series. SOme shots of the male "fatty" Zonatum. Doesn't look like he's missing many meals. LOL A nice side shot of the male...

Cichlids are noted for their unique and very cool breeding behaviour. No doubt they are very good parents. I watched as the female stacked the newly hatched wigglers into a tight pile. Eventually the fry started to pop out of the pile as they attempted to swim for the first time. Mother...

    Our Fishroom

Since we are finally in a house I now have my fishroom. This is a very casual, low-tech fishroom  It's actually the dining room but the house has a 'breakfast nook' that's large enough for all 8 of us to eat in. We're still on 'borrowed' internet and I don't have access to any photo...

    Fishroom Design Ideas

Here's the design for my future fish room. Only the showcase side of the basement is layed out. The Quarantine, fry rearing side will be a mottled collection of tanks and racks until I'm done with with showcase side. ;) Here's the basic floor plan. At actual size, 1/4" was a square of graph...

    Switched Lakes...in My Fishroom.

I spent Sunday switching over tanks. I moved all the Lake Malawi haps and peacocks back to there old home. And took the Lake Tanganyikans, and moved them into the longer tank. I like the sand and rock and live plants in the new Tang tank better now. A few tropheus shots.... And a...

Finally a good shot of one of the "Red Cheek" Robertsoni in the grow out tank. There is one male that keeps a low profile. I am striving to get a good shot of that fish. Really spectacular. Some of the breding pair of Bifasciatum...just before they get ready to breed. I say that becasue...

AshDavid from Waterwolves really made me start thinking on the background. The first thing I did was clean the algae off the back of the tank. That was a major improvement. Then I took the background down and just kept the reflector as the BG. I wasn't as happy with the look. Then I...
